A Thank You to Volunteer Alberta's Board of Directors

This past year, our Board Members helped guide and nurture our work through their wisdom, generative conversations, and steadfast commitment to the sector. We extend a heartfelt thank you to our outgoing 2025–2026 Board Members, Ken Kirk and Brian Boucher. Your time, contributions, and dedication to volunteerism and civic engagement in Alberta have left a lasting mark. We are deeply grateful.

Looking ahead, we are thrilled to welcome two new Board Members joining us for the 2026–2027 year: Alice Coatu (Calgary) and Karen Wronko (Sherwood Park). They are joined by Members renewing their terms: Amanda Reaume (Lethbridge) and Meenakshi Ramanathan (Edmonton), and our continuing Board Members: Annand Ollivierre (Edmonton), Doray Veno (Hanna), and Scott Pileckas (Canmore). Together, this group brings a wealth of experience, perspective, and heart to the work ahead. We look forward to a year of new explorations and meaningful connections.

VA's 2025 Annual Report is here!

In 2025, we followed the currents—the visible ripples and the deeper undercurrents shaping volunteerism across Alberta. From conducting research that reimagines how communities engage volunteers to programs that turned small moments of connection into waves of province-wide impact, this was a year of convergence: streams of work, relationships, and shared purpose flowing together.

Explore the stories, highlights, and numbers that defined the year. Read our 2025 Annual Report to see how we're flowing forward together.

Currents of Community: A Fireside Chat on Volunteering and Wellbeing

Lessons from Medicine Hat

What happens when a municipality decides to treat volunteerism as essential infrastructure?

Join us as we sit down with representatives from the City of Medicine Hat to explore their municipal Volunteer Engagement Strategy, Momentum, and what it reveals about the role of volunteerism in nurturing community wellbeing. If you work directly with volunteers, support organizations that do, or are ready to take a more strategic approach in your work, this conversation will deepen your understanding of how volunteering and civic health are connected and give you ideas on how to act on it.
