Esther Dimalanta

Esther Dimalanta is a displaced Filipino settler with the privilege of living, playing, and creating in Mohkintsis, colonially known as Calgary. She often introduces herself by sharing what her family name means as a way to reconnect to her identity and story. Dimalanta (hindi malanta) in Tagalog translates to “does not wither”. As a joke, she dubs herself as “always fresh”.

Professionally, she is  guided by genuine community building and community care that center relationships, as well as creating more equitable and fair practices in the non-profit world, especially through a healing-centred approach. And personally, she is deeply guided by a sense of kinship and collective liberation.
