Volunteer Alberta Statistics
Alberta-Wide Statistics

Statistics Canada released the results of the 2010 Canada Survey of Giving, Volunteering, and Participating (CSGVP) on Wednesday, March 21, 2012. CSGVP 2010 asked Albertans how they gave money, volunteered, and participated in charitable and nonprofit/voluntary sector organizations.
To find out more about how Albertans give money to charitable and nonprofit organizations, take a look at Volunteer Alberta’s Who are Alberta’s Donors factsheet.
Volunteer Alberta was one of the first in Alberta to receive these statistics and break down what they mean to the nonprofit/voluntary sector. For more information, please see our factsheet.. To highlight its impact on the sector, we will be fielding media questions this week. If you are media and would like to set up an interview with Volunteer Alberta’s experts, please phone 780.482.3300 ext. 228.

CVI: Alberta’s Capacity to Support Volunteerism – 2004
Volunteer Alberta as the host of the Alberta Network for the Canada Volunteerism Initiative (CVI), undertook a province wide survey in 2004 assessing:
- The current capacity of organizations to support community engagement
- The gaps in resources that support this work
Alberta Sector Report – 2006
This report focuses on nonprofit and voluntary organizations operating in Alberta and draws on the results of the 2003 NSNVO to paint a statistical portrait of Alberta’s nonprofit and voluntary sector. The results reveal that Alberta’s nonprofit and voluntary sector is extremely diverse, but united by a common set of characteristics and concerns. Some organizations have annual revenues in the millions of dollars; others operate on a few thousand. All organizations, however, engage volunteers and many face similar challenges related to their capacity to carry out their mandates.
Canadian Code for Volunteer Involvement (CCVI)
This report was produced through Volunteer Alberta as host for the Alberta Network – Canada Volunteerism Initiative. Volunteer Alberta surveyed 21 volunteer centres across Alberta via email during a two-week period in November 2004.
