Albertans lead the country in many sectors, from technology to energy, and the nonprofit sector is no exception. 52% of Albertans volunteer time in their communities, 4% higher than the national average. Volunteer Alberta provides services to nonprofit organizations so they can expand their capacity to recruit, retain, and recognize volunteers and sector staff.
We target our services to the following groups:
- Volunteer Alberta members
- Volunteer Centres
- Nonprofit and voluntary organizations in Alberta
- Post-secondary students
Delivering services to Alberta’s nonprofits
The province of Alberta is a big place, and as such its communities are incredibly diverse. Volunteer Alberta strives to bridge the distances of Alberta’s communities by delivering services across the province and through a networked video conferencing system called iCCAN. By embracing the technology of video conferencing we can deliver Educational programming, training, and networking opportunities and help more Albertans acquire knowledge and skills, without having to travel long distances or live away from their families.
In addition to our variety of service delivery locations, Volunteer Alberta also employs five Regional Capacity Coordinators who live and work in the four corners of the province. Their jobs are to connect with rural nonprofits and bring news of the sector back to Volunteer Alberta. We use the information we hear in both the KnowledgeConnector project and in Volunteer Alberta’s programs and services.
